Fabulous Food project will introduce young people to the benefits of good food and drink. The project brings together Slow Food Herefordshire , Aim Higher Young Apprenticeship scheme and the Bulmer Foundation with support from Holme Lacy College. We will use a practical and fun process to engage young people in education about food and drink, its connection with farming and its potential role in culture, health and the environment. We would like to encourage an attitude that good, locally distinctive food is something ‘cool’, and worth celebrating.
The students will gain an understanding of:
• Where food comes from, in terms of its origin (the land), and its locality (Herefordshire), how it is produced, and how it gets to our dinner table.
• What constitutes healthy and wholesome food.
• How to prepare tasty, healthy food and drink
• How to present, respect and enjoy the fruits of the land and of their labour
